I thought I preferred eyes of blue. I guess I got that wrong I thought that it might matter too, I guess I got that wrong. This blue-eyed boy’s been spun around. By a handsome gal with eyes of brown. I guess it’s time I jot this down. You confusicate me. I thought this Love was simple you see, I guess I got that wrong. All it took was proximity. I guess I got that wrong. I thought I knew what you were about And now I’m starting to have some doubt. I guess its time to work this out: You confusicate me. Confusication it’s some education, And a bit of consternation. My hand is up ‘cause I got one question. How do I hang on? I thought that it was I was done with school Guess I got that wrong I thought I’d be nobody’s fool Guess I got that wrong. Now I’m redoing clumsy things I do. Trying to prove myself to you. Thought I’d stopped that at twenty-two You confusicate me. Confusication, it’s some confusion. And a loss of some illusion. My hand is up ‘cause I got one question. How do I hang on? I thought it was that you don’t care. Maybe I got that wrong Cause I thought I saw a love-light stare Or maybe I got that wrong. The future hides behind a mystery door. And my guesswork is always so poor. Better think less and hope for more Of your confusicating me.

Captain Jinks I’m Captain Jinks of the horse marines. With shiny boots and old saltines. I sport young ladies in their teens. Though a captain in the army. I teach young ladies how to dance, How to dance, how to dance. I teach young ladies how to dance Cause That’s what I learned in the army. I’m Captain Jinks of the horse marines. I feed my horse the best corn and beans And so spend beyond my means Because that is the style of the army. I joined my corps at 21, Of course I thought it was capital fun. When the enemy comes, of course I run. Cause that’s what I learned in the army. When I left home, my Mama she cried My mama she cried, my Mama she cried. When I left home, my Mama she cried He’s not cut our for the army. I’m Captain Jinks of the horse marines. I feed my horse the best corn and beans And so spend way beyond my means Because that is the style of the army. The first time I went out to drill, The bugler’s sound made so ill. Of the battlefield, I’ve had my fill, Cause that’s what I learned in the army. And the officers, they all did shout, They all did shout, they all did shout. The officers, they all did shout. Just kick him out of the army. I’m Captain Jinks of the horse marines. I feed my horse the best corn and beans And so spend way beyond my means Because that is the style of the army.

The wrong guy, the wrong night. She wants one thing more. I got her damn cigarettes At an all night druggy store Salvation She had jammed the door The right time the night time To feel all alone To know what you’re missing To self-apply a stone Salvation Ain’t got no T-Bone An old man with a sign Is yelling to you. Maybe some repenting Is a thing to do. Salvation Call me Deacon Blue. There’s a ghost: a pay phone Needs a Roosevelt dime. A smartphone smartly answers You are past your prime. Salvation Vodka calls for lime. To make a stitch in time You still have to sew. The old man calling for Some tornadoes to blow Salvation Over the rainbow I go Salvation Over the rainbow I go.

Engine 143 04:25
Along came One Forty-Three, the swiftest on the line. Running on the C&O road, thirty-two minutes behind. Rolling on into Souville, headquarters on the line. You better get to the next station and you better be right on time. Georgie's Mother came to him, a bucket on her arm. Saying to her only son, be careful how you make the run. Many a man has lost his life trying to buy back lost time, But if you run your engine right, you can do better the next time. Up the road she darted, against the rocks she crashed. One 43 was Upside down and Georgie's breast was smashed. His head against the firebox door, the flames were rolling high. "I'm proud to be an engineer; on the C&O road to die.” The Doctor said to Georgie, my darling boy be still. Your life may yet be saved, if it's the Good Lord's blessed will. Oh no said Georgie, that will not do, I want to die______ so free. I want to die with the engine I love, one hundred and forty three. The Doctor said to Georgie, your life cannot be saved. Murdered upon a rail road and laid in a lonesome grave. His face was covered up with blood, his eyes no more could see. And the very last words that Georgie said were nearer my God to thee. Georgie’s Mother came to him, sad with open arms. Saying to her only son, you’ve made your final run. Oh Mother dear, I know that’s true, what happened was meant to be, Dying with the engine I love, one hundred forty-three.

Two boys alone with nothing to do. The Moon at Midnight, so high in the air. With Daddy’s car and a stolen attitude. They drive through the town as though no——thing is there. Rushing through the night Boys playing boys Asking of the night Silence and noise Staying in the night Til the night comes crashing down. Two boys alone at 10 Park Avenue. Looking at a dark house with an iron gate. One boy says “She’s waiting inside.” The boy that’s left stays back to talk with Fate. Rushing through the night Boys playing boys Asking of the night Silence and noise Staying in the night Til the night comes crashing down. One boy alone, he’s straining to hear. Loaded with suspense, his mind shuts down. Dawn comes cloudy with scattered questions. What does he know about the things that they found? Rushing through the night Boys playing boys Asking of the night Silence and noise Staying in the night Til the night comes crashing down.

Adam (Over Not Done) So so bored, I was first, but not the first to say. That was Eve, when me and the wife were arguing away. I said it is what it is, so proud of my future cliche. Hitting back hard, she said dammit Adam, the snake would talk with me. In the by and by, the ups and downs of the sun. It's just existence when history moves on. The world goes on forever, another race gets run. Cast from Eden. Over not done. Abel there, way, way too proud as a cattle guard. Farmer Cain. Sensitive boy, taking things way too far. Brotherly love? Well, maybe, I guess? We say please don't fight any more. You two, yeah the both of you, are tomorrow for us four. In the by and by, the ups and downs of the sun. It's just a clean-up when the parade moves on. The trash goes on forever, remember the fun. Time to pick up. You're over not done. There’s an angel at a gate guarded by a flaming sword. Who would have guessed cherubim get bored? Eden East, I visit and pretend that I want back in. Then he draws his terrible sword. Lectures me on sin. We laugh, it’s our little game and then there's news to share. No word from the The Big Guy yet. Bad career move, getting stuck there. In the by and by, the ups and downs of the sun. Could call it freedom when the story moves on. The drama plays on forever, another act's begun. It's backstage left. You're over not done. Time to pick up. You're over not done. Cast from Eden. Over not done
