LA Twilight They said good-bye in the LA twilight. Survey said that no one liked the best friend. So the show runners wrote her final end Another LA Twilight, good-bye. They said good-bye in the LA twilight They’d seen the totem of Laurel Canyon Took a selfie with a zombie Marilyn. Another LA Twilight, good-bye. We are pilgrims on Mulholland. As Studio City summons me. And our battered bodies will rise once more. Look away, Hills of Beverly. They said good-bye in the LA twilight Though one person was already long gone. A radio screams “yeah,” the blues are on. Another LA Twilight, good-bye. Twilight. Fade to night. Star light star bright. LA twilight. They said good-bye in the LA twilight. As the crematorium starts a burn. Sentiment and gray ash fill up an urn. Another LA Twilight, good-bye. We are pilgrims on Mulholland. As Studio City summons me. And our battered bodies will rise once more. Look away, look away, Look away, look away Hills of Beverly.

D Good morning Mister Railroad Man G D What time do your trains roll by? G A D 1:15, 2:32 and 25 minutes to 5. That’s 1:15, 2:32, and 25 minutes to 5. Thank you, Mister Railroad Man, I’ll just sit and watch those trains go by. One I sat down at a gambling game, But could not play my hand, I was thinking about that woman of mine, Run off with another man. Run off with another man, Run off with another man. I’m thinking about that woman of mine. Run off with another man. I sat down with a ticket and watch, But I could have used three 4s. When I bet down on a pair of 9s, I had to ticket no more. I had to ticket no more. I had to ticket no more. I saw a pair of Jacks when I made my call And that’s when I lost it all. Stood out on the platform, Smoking a cheap cigar, Looking around for one freight train That’s got an empty car. That’s got an empty car, That’s got an empty car. I’ll take that train on down the track And I ain’t coming back.

Sunday Cadillac She came in running. All ready to run away. The motor’s gunning. She’s arrested on the seventh day. The preacher teaching. Showing them another way. He’s double reaching. For goodness sakes and the goddam pay. And she says, Won’t you save me, won’t you take me. In your Sunday Cadillac. Won’t you hide me, won’t you drive me. In you Sunday Cadillac. Now won’t you save me. She wakes up screaming. Her demons won’t go away. He looks on scheming. To drive them out and drive her away. And she says. He’s going crazy. Watching people pay to be saved. She picks a daisy. Gives into God by an open grave. And she says. And she says, Won’t you save me, won’t you take me. In your Sunday Cadillac. Won’t you hide me, won’t you drive me. In you Sunday Cadillac. Now won’t you save me. He left town driving. Another dollar another day. She’s back their riding. Repossessed on the seventh day. And she says, Won’t you save me, won’t you take me. In your Sunday Cadillac. Won’t you hide me, won’t you drive me. In you Sunday Cadillac. Now won’t you save me.

A Wannabe Huckleberry Mom said she barked her shin Son-in-law gone again. Anything I can do She laughed no, how’s by you? If I ain’t leaving, then I’m already gone. That romantic road, a Kerouac Pawn. Tied to transition, forever between. A wannabe Huckleberry, looking for Dean. Calling from out of town. My luck bad, west coast down. Using my fifteenth name. Here’s the deal, still the same. If I ain’t leaving, then I’m already gone. That romantic road, a Kerouac Pawn. Tied to transition, forever between. A wannabe Huckleberry, looking for Dean. (solo on verse) On the road again, look there — I ain’t here. On the road again, watch me disappear. Work a job, swat a fly Ex lover, no reply. Turn it up, it’s Canned Heat ’Til I’m dead, move my feet. If I ain’t leaving, then I’m already gone. That romantic road, a Kerouac Pawn. Tied to transition, forever between. A wannabe Huckleberry, looking for Dean. A wannabe Huckleberry, looking for Dean. A wannabe Huckleberry, looking for Dean.

Norman Reed was driving one day He found a place to stay. Looked in a drawer and found a book. Decided to have a look. Put down the book and picked up the phone. “Night clerk, Don’t want to be alone.” Got directed, went on his way To a church to sit and pray. Folded hands, waiting to pray. Had to think just what to say. “Don’t want fame, women, or cash.” It came to him in a flash. Roll the stone. Roll that stone away. Too big for me but not for you. Please roll the stone away. Roll my pain, roll my pain away. Too big for me but not for you Please roll my pain away. Roll my blues. Roll my blues away. Too big for me but not for you. Please roll my blues away. Oh, when the saints, go marching in, Oh when the saints go marching in, Oh Lord, I want to be in that number, When the saints go marching in. Oh when the sun, refuse to shine, Oh when the sun refuse to shine, Oh Lord, I want to be in that number, When the sun refuse to shine. Oh, when the saints, go marching in, Oh when the saints go marching in, Oh Lord, I want to be in that number, When the saints go marching in. Yvonne Green was driving one day She found a place to stay. Got directed, went on her way. To a church to sit and pray. Roll my blues. Roll my blues away. Too big for me but not for you. Loch Lomond 03:36
Loch Lomond By yon Bonny banks, by yon Bonny braes The sun shines brightly on Loch Lomond. Where me and my true love were e'er want to gae, On the Bonny, Bonny banks of Loch Lomond. ''Twas there that we parted, by yon shady glen, On the steep, steep side of Ben Lomond. Where in purple hue, the highland hills we view, The moon came a rising on the gloaming. You take the high road and I'll take the low road. And I'll be in Scotland afore ye. Fro me and my true love will ne'er meet again. On the Bonny, Bonny banks of Loch Lomond. The wee bird may sing, the wild flower spring. The sun on the loch as it lay sleeping. But for the broken hearted, there can be no second spring. And the world cares not at our grieving. The roads that we choose, the ones were set upon, So we find ourselves away and roamin'. But history precedes and fate, it intercedes. So we seek our ways to Loch Lomond.

about

US American letters has romanticized the train, the river, the road. We follow the yellow brick road to find there's no place like home, or, in going there and back, we discover we cannot go home again. We present 13 songs that are about staying, coming, going, elation, and regrets.

That's right. This is that nigh-on extinct creature, a concept album. These are fun to plan and do, but our opinion is that it's a singles world from here on out. Perhaps along with possible tags Rock, Folk-Rock, Pop, Gospel, Tex-Mex, and Americana — there are clear influences in these songs — we should add Quixotica. Empirically, one can have a great time jousting with windmills.

There are four bonus tracks for those who buy this album. Traditional songs Red River Valley and Elanoy which were considered for inclusion in the album. Also, a 1990 demo by Celebrity City (featuring David Heckhouse guitars and backing vocals) and a 2017 alternate take of Sunday Cadillac are included.
